Embroidery patches are a great way to add a personalized touch to your clothing or accessories. But how do you attach them to your garment? In this blog post, we’ll guide you through the process of ironing on purchased embroidered patches.

Step 1: Prepare Your Work Surface

To start, place a regular towel down on a flat surface. This will serve as a protective layer for your work surface, as well as provide some padding for the garment you’ll be working on.

Step 2: Place Garment on the Towel

Next, place the garment you wish to attach the patch to on top of the towel. Make sure the garment is lying flat and that the area you want to attach the patch to is easily accessible.

Step 3: Mark the Garment

Before attaching the patch, it’s important to mark the area on the garment where you want it to go. You can use an erasable fabric marker or a fabric pencil to do this. Mark the center of the area where you want the patch to be placed.

Step 4: Peel the Adhesive Backing from the Patch

Once you have marked the garment, it’s time to prepare the patch. Most embroidered patches come with an adhesive backing. Simply peel off the backing to expose the adhesive.

Step 5: Place the Patch on the Garment

Carefully place the patch on the garment, making sure to line it up correctly with the center mark you made in Step 3.

Step 6: Protect the Garment and Patch

To protect the garment and the patch, place a cloth or piece of material over the top of the patch.

Step 7: Iron the Patch onto the Garment

Now it’s time to iron the patch onto the garment. Using a regular home iron, set the temperature to the appropriate level for the fabric of the garment (usually between medium and high heat). Using a 1700-watt iron, the time to iron the patch would be about 20 seconds. However, you should adjust the time based on the wattage of your iron. Be sure to apply good pressure while ironing to ensure the patch adheres properly.

Once you’ve ironed the patch onto the garment, give it a few minutes to cool down and set in place. You can then remove the protective cloth and enjoy your newly personalized garment!

For added security, once you have the patch ironed on, you may want to sew it as well.

Ironing on an embroidered patch is a fairly simple process, as long as you follow the steps carefully. With a little practice, you’ll be able to add unique, personalized touches to your clothing and accessories in no time!
